Chessboard would like to sincerely congratulate Michael Hawkins for being recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia on Australia Day. Michael is a member of Chessboard’s Advisory Board and has an extensive career within the media and entertainment industry.
Michael is a lawyer by training and is currently a Director of Screen Australia, Creative Content Australia and Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation, and an Executive Director at the National Association of Cinema Operators (NACO). He was formerly Chairman of Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival and CEO of Australian Multiplex Cinemas. These are only a handful of the many positions Michael has held.
Michael was awarded the honour to become a member of the Order of Australia due to his exceptional service to the film and television industry, and to screen content.
